Community standards

Our shared promise

Taskza is a marketplace for everyday South Africans, the gogo who needs a geyser fixed, the student building a hair-braiding hustle, the family looking for a trusted handyman. These standards exist so every person on Taskza, whether hiring or hustling, is treated with respect, honesty and basic dignity.

By using Taskza you agree to follow these standards. They apply to everything you do on the app: your profile, your messages, the work you do, and the reviews you leave.

1. Be real, be honest

  • Use your real name, a clear photo of yourself, and accurate contact details. Stolen, celebrity, AI-generated or stock photos posing as you are not allowed.
  • Providers must only list services they can actually deliver. Do not exaggerate qualifications, certifications, years of experience, or licences you do not hold.
  • Pricing must be transparent. Quote the full cost upfront, including call-out, materials and labour where relevant. Surprise charges after the job starts are not okay.
  • One person, one account. Do not create duplicate or fake accounts to inflate ratings, evade bans, or spam other users.

2. Treat people with respect

  • Zero tolerance for hate speech, racism, xenophobia, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or any abuse based on religion, language, disability, age or background. South Africa is diverse, and Taskza reflects that.
  • No harassment, intimidation, threats, doxxing, or stalking, in chats, in person, or anywhere else.
  • No sexual harassment. Unwanted advances, explicit messages, or pressuring someone for intimacy in exchange for work, payment, or a good review are strictly prohibited.
  • Keep conversations professional. Profanity aimed at another user, name-calling, or insults will lead to action on your account.

3. Safety, on and off the app

  • Meet in safe, agreed locations. For first-time visits, share the address and time with someone you trust before you go.
  • Children and vulnerable adults must never be left unsupervised with a provider. Clients are responsible for ensuring a safe environment on their property.
  • No weapons, drugs, or alcohol consumption during a job. Arriving under the influence is grounds for immediate removal from the platform.
  • Respect property. Providers must protect a client's home, possessions and pets. Clients must give providers reasonable, safe working conditions.

4. Honest reviews and ratings

  • Only review providers you have genuinely worked with through Taskza. Reviews based on jobs that never happened are fraud.
  • No fake reviews, paid reviews, review-swapping, or pressuring a client to remove or change a review. Offering a discount in exchange for a 5-star rating is not allowed.
  • Keep reviews factual and focused on the service. Personal attacks, private information, or false accusations are not acceptable.
  • If a review breaks these rules, report it. We will investigate and remove content that violates our standards.

5. Money, offers and payments

  • Use the Make offer feature in chat to agree on a price in writing. This protects both sides if there is a dispute later.
  • No bait-and-switch pricing. The agreed offer is the agreed offer, unless both parties update it in writing.
  • Do not ask for full payment upfront for jobs you have not started. A reasonable materials deposit is fine; demanding 100% before any work is a red flag.
  • Never share banking PINs, OTPs, or full card details in chat. Taskza staff will never ask for these.
  • Do not use Taskza to launder money, run pyramid schemes, or sell anything illegal, counterfeit, or stolen.

6. Content rules

  • No nudity, sexual content, or sexually suggestive photos in profiles, galleries, or chats.
  • No graphic violence, gore, or content that promotes self-harm.
  • No spam, phishing links, malware, or attempts to drive users off-platform to scam them.
  • Only upload photos and content you own or have permission to use. Respect copyright and privacy.

7. Privacy and personal information

  • Do not share another user's personal information (address, ID number, phone, photos) outside the context of the job they hired you for.
  • Do not record, photograph, or film inside a client's home without their explicit permission.
  • Taskza handles your data in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). You can request to access or delete your account data at any time.

8. Illegal activity

  • Do not use Taskza to offer or request anything illegal under South African law, including unlicensed firearms work, drug-related services, sex work, or work that requires a licence you do not hold (for example, electrical Certificates of Compliance, plumbing PIRB registration, or medical procedures).
  • Do not use Taskza to traffic, exploit, or endanger any person, especially minors.
  • Serious violations will be reported to the South African Police Service and relevant authorities.

9. Reporting and enforcement

  • If you see something that breaks these standards, report it through the chat report option or email us. We review every report.
  • Depending on the severity, we may issue a warning, hide content, suspend the account, or permanently ban the user.
  • Serious violations (violence, fraud, exploitation, abuse) will result in an immediate permanent ban with no warning.
  • We may share information with law enforcement when required by law or when there is a credible threat to safety.

10. Disputes between users

  • Try to resolve issues directly and respectfully in chat first. Most problems come from miscommunication, not bad intent.
  • If you cannot agree, contact Taskza support with the thread, the agreed offer, photos, and any relevant context. We will help mediate where we can.
  • Taskza is a marketplace, not a party to the contract between client and provider. For legal disputes, the parties remain responsible for resolving them through the appropriate small claims court, ombud, or legal channel.

11. Changes to these standards

  • We update these standards as the community grows and new issues come up. Continued use of Taskza after an update means you accept the new version.
